A student found a 2-metre-long python slithering outside his room at the Hall of Residence 15 early morning on 12 Oct.
Lucas Leong, 22, a first-year School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering student, told the Nanyang Chronicle that it was his roommate who first spotted the snake, which appears to be a python.
Leong’s roommate Koh Xiu Ming had just returned from the toilet on the ground floor of Block 72 when he saw the reptile in the corridor, just right outside their room, around 2.20am.
Leong and his friends immediately called hall security, who then notified campus security.
An external pest control company arrived shortly after to safely secure the snake.
By that time, the snake had already crawled from the corridor to a nearby toilet.
Students saw the snake being placed in a sack by one of the responders and taken away at around 3am.
In a statement, the University said that no one was injured in the incident.
Last year, a python and a king cobra were found fighting on the street beside a forested area near Research Techno Plaza.
The fight, witnessed by students and recorded in numerous photos and videos, took about 30 minutes, until the cobra managed to escape. The snakes were caught by pest control officers hours later.
