Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin spoke on issues like job competition with foreigners and the aging workforce.

Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin was in NTU yesterday (22 Oct) to address the hot-button issue of competing with foreigners for jobs. Participants posted questions for Mr Tan online before the session and were also polled on topics they felt strongly for.

Competition with foreigners for jobs, and concerns over globalisation ranked highly.

#MOMchats – REACH Kopi Talk, is a dialogue session, run by REACH, the government feedback unit, and the Ministry of Manpower.

The talk, which was attended by over 40 students, was part of REACH’s efforts at engaging young people in national issues. Other issues that were covered in the dialogue session included concerns of an aging workforce and the skills graduates need to stay competitive in the job market.
