A passenger was injured in a collision involving SBS Bus Service 179 and an NTU Red Line Shuttle Bus at the bus stop at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at about 3pm today.
Mr Lin Sui Wen, 27, suffered a cut on his eyebrow after falling down the stairs, which lead to the upper deck of the SBS bus, during the collision. An ambulance arrived approximately 10 minutes after the accident.
The Chronicle understands that SBS bus driver Heng Tiang Meng had stopped his vehicle for passengers to board when the Red Line shuttle bus arrived and crashed into his bus’s rear,
The Red Line Shuttle Bus driver, who declined to be named, said he could not brake in time to avoid crashing into the SBS Bus.
But Campus Security officers, who arrived shortly after the accident, found the shuttle bus’s brakes to be functioning normally.
The rear of the SBS bus was dented, while the NTU shuttle bus’ windscreen was shattered. Police arrived at the scene around 3.45pm.
