Be The Brains Behind A Thinking Newspaper!

The Chronicle may seem to appear magically out of nowhere at the canteens and libraries once every three weeks, but the truth is, it’s put together by a bunch of elves living in Santa’s workshop in the North Pole. At least that’s how we sometimes imagine ourselves to be. For every single issue is truly the labour of love of a group of NTU students – aspiring journalists, visual design students, literature geeks, but also computer scientists and engineers.

And we thrive on that diversity of talents because we pride ourselves on being a thinking newspaper, a place where different ideas and perspectives can come together to shed light on issues closest to our hearts in NTU: from prices of food and grocery at canteens and convenience stores to Hall activities and processes. We ask questions, and often mercilessly, because we believe in fostering an open conversation that defines our campus as a community.

That’s the big picture anyway, the ideal that each member of the team – writer, web & layout designer, photographer, even our brand & business manager – strives to fight for and uphold. It’s the flame inside that keeps us driven, keeps us going for hours and hours on end, almost without sleep, during production nights (nights when we edit the newspaper as a team and then send it to print; they’re much like those fun sleepovers!)

So if you have that flame burning within you, do come down to the Newsplex at the Wee Kim Wee School on Thursday, 17 Jan at 5.30pm. (RSVP on Facebook)

P.S. We are launching new online features for the first time this semester, so we need bloggers, webmasters, and social media jedis to be part of this revolution too!
