Talking Point: NTU Confessions: How Long Can It Keep Up The Buzz?

A few weeks on, and the confession craze is still raging on, with the page now reaching more than 10,000 followers. But is it more than a passing fad?

In a story published in our latest issue (Vol. 19 No. 8), Associate Professor Cherian George of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information said: “With this site, it’s like crowdsourcing peer advice. You get more diverse views, which means a higher chance of receiving good advice.”

Some students have also been moved to act for the welfare of the campus janitors after reading a post on NTU Confessions.

But there are also those who believe the page is merely a place to air dirty laundry, with explicit confessions still emerging and drawing much controversy.

With such mixed impact, should the page continue, and if so, how can it remain relevant?
