A taxi mounted a kerb at the South Spine and plunged down a flight of stairs before being stuck.

A taxi stuck in the middle of a staircase may sound like a scene off the popular video game series Grand Theft Auto, but this was seen at Block S4 of the South Spine earlier this morning.

The Comfort taxi was stranded after heading down a staircase between levels B2 and B3.

According to Yip Zhong Yan, a first-year student from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the vehicle had mounted a kerb along the turn into the South Spine car park.

But instead of reversing back onto the road, the driver accidentally accelerated forward.

The blue Toyota then plunged down the flight of stairs before being stuck, said Yip.

It took about seven students and the driver about 10 minutes to push the car down the staircase and back onto the road. Yip was one of those who volunteered to help the cab driver.

The taxi was not carrying a passenger at the time of the incident.
